Reflective Narrative
Taking this course helped me to add to my MLO 1 fulfillment. It helped with communication and presentational skills. In this course we learned about many aspects of Japanese language and culture. We learned about food culture, the samurai and different aspects of religion. For the language part, we studied different forms of formal and informal speech, and so on. In this class, we studied vocabulary and kanji and frequently we had quizzes. For the midterm presentation I did mine on the history of rice in Japan.
In this class we had lot presentations. It helped for acquire communication skills, and also to get used to not only present in Japanese, but also just better presenting in general. One of the main presentations I did was the midterm on rice, but the other main one I did was the final presentation on Japanese food culture and how it has been changed of the years. It gave me a good opportunity to start research in Japanese while doing a major presentation about something I personally was interested in.
