Narrative:
In taking this course, I was able to fulfill MLO4 – Research and Technology. Even though this course is called Pre Capstone, it was the first step of the Capstone project that we are supposed to do as a requirement for all students at CSUMB in order to graduate. Through this class, we started the process of choosing the research topic, and we practiced to do significance of study and research questions with a different partner at the beginning. After a few weeks, I started to work with my partner who will do the Capstone project with me and we chose the topic which will become our topic for the Capstone project. In this class. we learned how to develop research questions in order to begin our Capstone project. Moreover, we learned how to use online resources that are good and trustworthy to do research for the project, such as CSUMB library’s peer review articles or google scholar.
I took this class along with WLC 300 and both together helped me learn the use of technology such as Google Docs and Google Drive, which I have been using for work with my partner on the Capstone project.
The topic that my partner and myself chose for out Capstone is “Comparison of Japanese and American students’ views on aging society’s effects on poverty and long-term care”. We think this is a big problem in both societies but students are not aware how profound this issue is.
This course helped me to think and analyze the issue critically and we will continue do it until we finish our final project: Capstone. Moreover, even though I learned how to use the tools and how to narrow research when looking for literature review, I still learn each day about research and technology because everything was very new for me.
